About Astypalea

Astypalaia is the most western island of the Dodecanese and is located between Anafi, Kos and Amorgos.

The Astropalia (as the locals call it) has an area of 96 square kilometers (the fourth largest island in the Dodecanese) and an extensive coastline equal to 128 km.

Although it belongs to the blog of Dodecanese islands, Astypalaia looks like an island of the Cyclades due to its architecture design that includes white houses, cobbled streets and traditional windmills.

The capital of the island, Known as Chora, is a little fairy-tale village with charming small streets flooded by colors and laughs of local people who are famous for their kindness and hospitality.
Most important attraction of Astypalaia is the Venetian Castle of Chora that was built by the family of the Querini about 13o century and occupies an area of 4,000 s.q.m.

The shape of Astypalaia looks like the shape of a butterfly and it has been an ideal place for alternative holidays since many years due to its wild landscape and small creeks that hide in their lap amazing pure beaches.
